With hundreds of lodging options in the Black Hills,
this is an excellent question to which we have 3 answers:

Location

Echo Valley is in the heart of the southern Black Hills, which contains 90% of what people come here to see.  One of the continual reoccurring comments we receive from our guests year after year is how close we are to everything.

– Mount Rushmore is 2.4 miles away (less than a mile if you are a bird).

– Keystone is a 1.5 mile drive and contains dozens of restaurants and attractions catering to the visitor.

– Custer State Park is within 30 minutes and is home to some of the more beautiful parts of the Hills.

– Rapid City, a city of almost 100,000 people, is a quick 25 minute drive down Highway 16 where you can find dozens of options for dining, shopping and entertainment.

If you are coming to the Black Hills in order to fill your days with sight-seeing adventures then you’d be hard-pressed to find a better home base.

Atmosphere

Just because you are nestled in the midst of so much doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice the ambiance of a beautiful and peaceful setting.  The valley that our 10 cabins are tucked into is an idyllic Black Hills setting. Its steep hillsides are lined with ponderosa pines while its floor is covered in large grassy yards peppered with oaks, elms and aspens.  Deer and turkey are regular visitors. Because we are off of a back road and not a main highway, the noise from vehicles is almost nonexistent.

The cabins themselves are spread out over 8 acres, which give enough distance to enjoy your privacy yet close enough for family gatherings or mingling with new friends.  The smell of campfires in the evening with wispy smoke settling just overhead are nightly occurrences. Overall, it a place that easily produces relaxation and wonderful memories.

Accommodations

Just in case location and atmosphere aren’t quite enough, our cabins in and of themselves are worth the stay.  Originally a mining camp in the early 1900’s, the cabins have been fully remodeled within the last 5 years. Replete with custom carpentry, knotty-pine walls and unique decorations, each cabin provides a distinct experience.  They each come full of comfortable furniture, full kitchens, gas grills, and private fire pits. They provide the feeling of being at home with modern conveniences yet surrounded by the ambiance of a cabin in the woods.

The Barn living room

Bottom line, we strive to offer you everything to make your vacation to the Black Hills one that you and your family will never forget.
